Introduction
The Nepalese garment products for the past few years have successfully
been exported mainly to the U. S. A. The present supplies consist of
a variety of men's, women's and children's wears, made of cotton and
other fabrics, most of which are fashioned as casual items.
Varieties
Garments from Nepal comprise of Jackets, Shirts, Pants, Half-Pants,
Vests, Trousers, and Jumpsuits for Gents, Ladies & Children, Women's
skirts, Blouses and Children wears. They are available in different
designs and sizes as per requirements.
Raw materials
Fabrics are the original raw materials, which are imported from India,
Taiwan, South Korea and Hong Kong. The Nepalese handloom cotton is very
famous in foreign countries. To promote fabric imports, the government
provides foreign currency and bonded warehouses facilities.
Productions
There are about 200 units group engaged in manufacturing garments for
exports. Almost all of them are concentrated in the Kathmandu valley.
Buyers therefore do not have to wait long for execution of their orders.
Exports
More than 90% of the garments are exported to the United States, and
the rest to Canada, European and Scandinavian countries. Presently garments
are the major exportable items of Nepal.
